I don't know Grizz, when they were up big, they never met a risky pass they didn't like! Unfortunately, they always seem to make the turnovers at the absolute worst time possible(3rd qtr & 4th qtr).

I will agree that Frank seems to get out coached down the stretch way more often than I like.

Our biggest loss was at the 2 guard position tonight, and how we got out rebounded so badly was another problem.

FORUM - Page 14 Empty L.Frank was out coached tonight and it's time to Start Big Drummonds

Post  Phil-Good Fri Nov 16, 2012 11:18 pm

Tonight Coached Frank was out coached. L.Frank seems to delay making big decisions.

Starting Singler was A no brainier but Stuckey had to force the coach's hand.

This decision would be even more easy then starting Singler; Starting Andre Drummonds. It's time! This team is not going any place but to the NBA Lottery!

The Pistons problem is rim protection, turnovers from bad passes and getting key rebounds. Especially in the 4th QTR. I believe that Big Dre can help with that and by mid to end season the Pistons will win some games with 4 young guys in the Starting 5.

Singler +17 plus minus .. by far the best on the team .. Stuckey -19 by far the worse ....

What lost the game? from near the end of the 3rd quarter on .. Magic got real easy open shots to take and make .. quick quick scores ... My take is Magic exploited what we were doing and we, Frank, never made the adjustments .. Another reason to have a big man in the middle and discourage these too easy shots ... DRUMMOND !!

I admit Drummond wouldnt be great at first if he started .... maybe downright bad .. but we have bad now anyway as far as interior defense goes .. Believe Drummond will rise to the challege but dont want the Pistons to hold him back any longer .. Talent will rise and prove it if you unshackle it ... Instead .. we got C Maggette in there ... for pete's sake ..

Oracle .. Really agree and would rather see English than Maggette by a country mile .. WTF is CM doing out there?!!!!! Lets bring back Russell Jr. and Wikins at give them playing time too while we are at it!!

Definitely want a new head coach .. every game we let this little charade go on we are destroying a little or a lot of the potential of our young players .. CONVINCED DRUMMOND should start because he will learn faster that way ... and we are just bringing the negative to him mentally by limiting him to bench play .. Yes . he did get 15 minutes tonight .. but ... Jmax is not a big man .. he is a little guy who can play with the bigs .. for a short time .. a game or 2 ... We need Drummond ... as starting center .. Monroe as PF ..BTW who did really look great at times .. He cannot be the lone BIG .. it just does not work without TWO BIGS!!!!!!

Oracle .. all my frustration is at the Pistons BRASS .. and know I am preaching to the choir with you on this .. Go Pistons ..

FORUM - Page 14 Empty Pistons need a real coach now!

Post  cool breeze Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:12 am

I attended an Arizona game last night and couldn't help but compare the Arizona coach, Sean Miller, and Frank. Miller is so smart in game situations and can see right away when certain combinations of players are not working. He is the best coach that I have ever seen in reacting to what is going on in the present and changing things for the better if things are going south. Man this guy Frank is not a good game time coach. Frank sits there and lets this game slip away. The Pistons were playing well and Orlando had lost all confidence in the 3rd quarter with the starting unit. Frank then decides to experiment thinking he had this game in the bag. It is clear that he has this need to try to keep his favorite vets happy no matter how badly they are playing. So what does he do when the Pistons are rolling? He brings in Stuckey, Maggette and Bynum. Now how can Drummond play with this group of disfunctional players? Back to street ball with idiots running the nut house. In the 3rd quarter, the Piston starters were working hard playing team defense well except for Jason Maxiell who looked real tired tonight in the 3rd quarter. But notice the way the big men play when the coach plays Stuckey, Bynum and Maggette. I feel for those guys. Jerebco and Drummond have no idea what Frank's Big Three might do. They know that most likely the guy with the ball will try to jack up the shot. That much we all know. And on defense the big guys know that all three players are asleep at the wheel most of the time. I swear that Stuckey has a problem with concentration. Before long Orlando knew that they had a great chance to win that game. Who wouldn't beat the Pistons when Frank brings in that combination? Why is English not good enough to play when Frank plays Stuckey, Bynum and Maggette? Frank plays defense well coach. A sign of a coward coach has always been to screw over a rookie like English to keep harmony with the older players. Frank is a true coward even with his comments about starting Singler over Stuckey. The story line had to be that Stuckey came to the coach to ask if he could come off the bench. That was a real pussy comment by Frank. Maggette was horrible tonight but the coach must have thought he was doing great because he sure didn't react. Frank should be fired for sucking up to those players and letting them make fools of themselves. Frank needed to call a timeout within the first two minutes that he brought in that lineup and removed at least two of those players. Frank would have been fired in any major college program for his lack of action when it counted after the team has lost this many games early in the season. Also, the key to this game was to get plays called for Prince during crunch time. Prince was the hot shooting player this night. That didn't happen. Monroe didn't look confident but it was clear that the coach instructed his players to keep passing the ball to Monroe even when Monroe had two players guarding him. The coach changed the entire mood of this Piston team with his insane substitutions and he never realized that he had made a mistake. How did Frank con his way into a head coaching job in the NBA?????

FORUM - Page 14 Empty I am tired of listening to the Piston announcers who lack the courage to tell the fans the truth

Post  cool breeze Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:25 am

When Affalo completely stopped Stuckey from doing anything positive on offense in the first half and was able to score at will against Stuckey, the announcers ignored what was going on in the game. And how many times did the announcers make a comment on how many points affalo had or the way he was playing defense? No this is a gutless crew. Did Kelser ever mention that Frank's substitutions were not working? NEVER!! I listen to announcers who broadcast for other NBA teams and they don't do that. Some are very critical of the team they are representing and point out the reasons why their team might be struggling. Our announcers seem to always build up Stuckey and Maxiell. When Frank brought in those players late in the 3rd quarter and the team went flat, were they worried that they might get fired if they questioned why the coach was just sitting there watching the team go into the toilet? I better go back to turning off the sound during the games to help keep my sanity.

Frank is really poor at getting the right combination of players on the floor at the right time. He's also HORRID about settling his team down when opponents start making a run. Unfortunately, that, while part of the reason we lost, wasn't the main thing.

Some of the passes made in the 3rd quarter just makes you scratch your head, and I'm talking about Monroe & Knight too. I'm still trying to figure out why Magette wasn't pulled, after it was clear that he had nothing tonight.

When you're up like we were, and you can't crank up the defense to hold it, there's two things that come to mind coaching wise.

First, why in the world don't you have one of your best perimeter defenders, English, in the game? Ok, so you don't put him in for defense, well, he's also a 3pt specialist, so when you're down, why wouldn't you have someone that spreads the floor, giving you a chance to score down low, and if that isn't there, English would be the relief valve.

Look, we have problems, and I don't mind that, but here's the really bad thing.

If you can't get competent coaching, it's almost impossible to evaluate and correct the player issues you're going to have with a young team, which results in youngsters either not learning, or learning the wrong thing.

This loss has me really worried about where we're going, but before we take another step, we really need a coaching change.

I've seen enough of Frank!

I wonder, how many more losses it will take, before Gores and Joe ask L. Frank to clean out his desk.

After the first 10 games, WE are 1-9. The experienced L. Frank lost to the very green, Jacque Vaughn.

It will be difficult to replace Frank, if he is allowed to go 1-19 or 2-18 or even 3-17, because a "real" NBA coach, may not be interested in slopping seconds, left by L. Frank. The next 7 games, remainder of the month, should do it for L. Frank:

Sun. (11/18) vs. the Celtics
Wed. (11/21) @ the Magic
Fri. (11/23) vs. the Raptors
Sun. (11/25) @ the Knicks
Mon. (11/26) vs. Trailblazers
Wed. (11/28) vs. the Suns
Fri. (11/30) @ the Grizzilies

Let's be serious, the Celtics are not coming to the Palace on Sunday to lose; WE just lost to the Magic at the crib, probably will not beat them in Orlando on Wednesday; the Raptors have been known to beat OUR Pistons and know US well, as WE've played a couple of times during the preseason; the Knicks probably will take US in the Garden on the 25th; the Trailblazers starting 5 is far better than OUR current starting 5 and play a better brand of ball than OUR lowly Pistons; the Suns have already beaten US and probably will, again; and there ain't no way in Hell, this current roster of Pistons will beat the Grizzlies, especially in Memphis.

WE can easily be 1-16 or 2-15 at the end of the month. If so, fire Frank and hire Zeke.

I'm no FUCKING PHIL Jackson but I think the Pistons could have used A rim-protector and A big 6'11 re-bounder/shot blocker in that key 4th Qr where Frank was out-coached.

Look. This is just the FACTS. Greg Monroe is not very athletic and Jason Mad Max is undersize. That's why they can't grab the big rebounds when they need to. They working hard, they giving everything they have out there! I can see it! You have to put your best defender in there and that is Big Drummonds. You have no other options!

This team is losing games because of Defense and rebounding. The turnovers are bad by B.K.7 and especially G.Monroe with some of his tight squeeze, over thinking passes. But the rebounds are KILLING THIS TEAM!

By the way the last 3 games Coach Frank has been out coached 2 out of the 3. I'm not saying that because of A win or lose. I'm talking about in game adjustments. thumbs down

Oracle ..All valid points ... there really is not much more to say .... Just afraid of how all this losing affects the team .. and whether the young players are failing to receive the proper coaching as far as basketball techniques go ... .. Shocked pale .. I feel .. but do not know .. that 2 more straight losses means he is fired ... but ... am ready right now for a better coach .. Nate McMillan and Bill Laimbeer are the 2 guys next on my list .. Isaiah Thomas ?.. yes !! Make that 3 guys .. not 2 ...

Like magic, just like that the team went from play NBA Basketball to playing Alley Ball in the 3rd quarter after going up by 13. All of a sudden we can't pass or rebound and this is with your starters on the floor and yes Frank made no adjustments I think he road Prince and Monroe way too much in the 3rd.

Knight has played better, I love the 12 assust but was crazy about the 12 FG attempts he needs to keep them below 10 or at 10.

Know back to the Drummond not starting issue. Lets do the math here Drummond stats are basically the same as JMax and he does it in less than half the playing time that JMax is getting. One would think this kid would be a consistent double double if he satrts and played 30 minutes a night.

I said not to get overly excited about that Philly win, Philly clearl had a off night shooting.

Man...Stuckey's career is disintegrating before our very eyes. I've been one of his biggest apologists, but now he's turning into an Austin Daye type head case. -19 in that game last night is really bad. And if you look at a game flow chart, every time Stuckey stepped onto the floor, the Pistons started losing ground immediately.

And what's up with JJ? Ever since he took that shot to the throat, he's played like Bambi. News flash: The NBA is a tough league with tough opponents who don't want you to succeed. Deal with it, JJ, or catch the next flight back to Sweden...because right now you're playing like a Euro-puss.

There is really no excuse for losing that game last night. We were playing an inferior team, on our court...and had a 13 point lead late in the 3rd...a 13 point lead.

Lil Larry's gotta go.

cool breeze wrote: A sign of a coward coach has always been to screw over a rookie like English to keep harmony with the older players. Frank is a true coward even with his comments about starting Singler over Stuckey.

Don, I hate to dwell in the unchangeable past but, in this instance, one can clearly see a pattern of ineptitude that will destroy this teams rebuild efforts, and rot the spirit of our core players, if given enough time. Lil' Larry is a cancer of a coach, and the sad part is, it seems to be his nature; the spoiled little brat that has to have things his way because, these are his toys to play with. Vernon Macklin.

I'm not saying Vernon Macklin was all that but, he was clearly the best big man candidate to be paired with Monroe last year. Last year we needed size in the paint and rebounding in the worst way, and what we got was Jason Maxiell. Sure the team played .500 ball when Maxey was inserted into the lineup but, we were playing 4 and 1/2 men, against 5. All we got a chance to see, for extended periods of time, was Maxiell, so there was no comparisons to be made. Macklin wasn't seen by anyone but Lil' Larry and his coaching staff (who seem to be in lock-step with whatever he does), so naturally the average fan assumed the man couldn't think the game, or play it. Lil' Larry wouldn't even send him down to the D-league for seasoning, and when he did, Macklin was a man among boys, and would have led the league in rebounding, by a wide margin, if he had enough games, which he didn't because, Lil' Larry waited until the season was 2/3rds over. This engineered discrediting of a young player led to Maxiell being the incumbant PF going into this season. Macklin was let go..."numbers game."

Vernon Macklin was let go, and Joe Dumars signed Slava Kravtsov (a legit 7 footer), for more money than Macklin was worth, from half way around the world, who remains conspicuosly on the inactive list, because of made up excuses by Lil' Larry (Maggette can't play, so we didn't want to scratch another SF, but Middleton never left the bench). On a team with "no incumbents" and "every position is up for grabs, all a player has to do is take it," why are we playing the lineup we ended last year with? Forget Macklin. Forget Kravtsov. What about Drummond? You know, the player that the national mass media is calling one of the top 3 rookies in the NBA right now; why is he getting what amounts to dog scraps, in minutes played, on a lottery team (3 years running), with a 1-9 record, all while Maxiell holds onto a starting big man spot? Our future can't be Maxiell. Drummond should be getting as many minutes as he can manage, if for no other reason, he has the energy of a 19 year old. Lil' Larry's jaw is set, and Drummond will be brought along slow.

Okay, okay, okay, I get it, Maxiell is all the help Monroe needs to remain our starting center; some say he would get his ass kicked as a PF, but I doubt it. Lil' Larry's talent's go beyond mucking up the bigs, let's take a look at what's happening with our forwards and guards. Kyle Singler is obviously a chemistry element who brings a high Bball I.Q. to the team, who's now being deployed at SG. The problem is, he's a SF! The starting SG substitution, in Stuckey's absence, should have been Kim English. If Stuckey was to remain our starting SG, and he was only to be out for 1 game, why not give the start to English? Stuckey sucks so bad now, and has all through that historic losing streak, it was anticipated that Singler would come in against Philly, and look like a stumblebum at SG, thus assureing Stuckey's return; that plan backfired, and because Singler can play the game, he's now our starting SG. Problem is, he should be our starting SF, and English (who's not getting any playing time now) should be our starting SG. Now we have Stuckey, Maggette, and Bynum pushing English and Middleton toward the inactive list with Kravtsov; none of them are designated to go to the D-league, and none of them are gonna get any PT. It seems that Aaron Afflalo, Emir Johnson, and Carlos Delfino were the lucky ones, at least they were traded to teams that would give 'em a fair shot. Lil' Larry doesn't have the slightest idea of what the hell fair mean. It's a term as foreign to him as logic. "Fair?! Logical??!! What the fuck are you talking about?"

Yeah, Lil' Larry is an asshole, and spoiled brat but, who're the doting parents? Tom Gores, who hired him for God only knows why, and silent Joe Dumars, knocked out on jelly-filleds. Gores should have allowed Dumars to make his own coaching decision (Mike Woodson), which was just as important as player acquisition, and Joe should have traded Bynum, Daye, Prince, Stuckey, and Maxiell long ago, to make way for the youngsters he was bringing in. Bad decisions from the top, filtering down to what we see on the floor; Lil' Larry's folly.

At first I didn't think that Greg would have the foot speed to stay with some of the mobile PFs... Don't know if anyone else has noticed this...but he seems a step quicker this year... Arnie's method must be working... even if the matchups don't favor him we can always switch on defense with Drummond.

Here's a question for the forum... Next year would you rather have JJ or Jmax on the roster (@ the same salary)?

Neither if it would mean we could land James Michael McAdoo in the draft, and sign Josh Smith in FA. (whatever it takes, we need a defensive SF)

FORUM - Page 14 Empty Prince provided the truth in his statement "towards the end of the third, we made some mental mistakes".

Post  cool breeze Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:44 pm

It wasn't Prince who was making the mental mistakes. Yes, you guessed it, Frank's children, Maggette, Stuckey and Bynum were the players who had no focus or concentration which created the bad Karma in that game. Did Frank forget to give them candy at halftime? Lack of any kind of dicipline was evident with all three of those players. The other two guys on the floor just had to suck it up and try to do their best with the three street players.

How about firing Frank as soon as possible and due to the money issues, hire Prince as a player coach. I know he would do a great job and you can bet that he would not stand for what is going on with this team right now. Frank is a coward. He plays up to guys like Stuckey, Maggette and Bynum. I think he is also afraid of Maxiell too. Frank is a guy who likes to punish the good guys like English and let them rot on the bench just to keep the peace. Those three players sucked so bad last night that all three should be at the end of the bench next to Charlie V.

How many Piston players have suckered Joe Dumars into giving them nice contracts? Who are their agents and is Joe considered a close friend of their agents? Let's start with Joe's starting 5.
1. Charlie V.
2. Ben Gordon
3. Richard Hamilton
4. Rodney Stuckey
5. Maxiell

Anyone wish to add to this list?

If any of you go to a Piston game in the near future try to get the crowd into a chant "fire the coach" "FIRE THE COACH" and finish with "FIRE THE COACH AND JOE DUMARS". Some of you have said that hiring Frank was not Joe Dumars idea. I find it difficult to believe that Mr. Gores would go over Dumar's head so soon in his tenure. What kind of balls does Joe Dumars have if he didn't stand up for what is right and really wanted Woodson? No I believe that Joe had something to do with this hire as he does with most decisions that involve the Pistons. Can we blame Mr. Davidson for Dumars trading Billups as well? Davidson is now among the dead so Joe could blame him for that trade and get away with it. This much I do know. If either Bill Laimbeer or Isiah Thomas had Joe's job, there is no way they would have agreed to hire Frank. And if either of those old Piston players had watched last night's game and had Joe's job, you can bet that the dead wood on this team would be short timers. Just take a moment to look at the soft players on this Piston team. The real players must have had a difficult time improving in practice while going up against guys like Daye, Charlie V, Maxiell, Stuckey and Maggette. Maybe Maggette was once a solid player but last night he should have taken himself out of that game. The coach doesn't have the guts to do it. Yet from now on when the players are not feeling good or playing really bad and become embarrassed, the new rule should be that they take themselves out of the game. We all know that this is not something coach Frank is comfortable with especially when it involves older vets.

FORUM - Page 14 Empty Cool Add Bynum To List and Tay As Well

Arnie's method must be working... even if the matchups don't favor him we can always switch on defense with Drummond.

Here's a question for the forum... Next year would you rather have JJ or Jmax on the roster (@ the same salary)?

Moose did look faster last night but that's because the player he was going against were slower.

As for that question I would say JJ if that was the chose, but I can live without either I prefer both were replaced by some 7 footer defensive gem. Or at least packaged in so trade to land Josh.

Yes. Tay's signing was unnecessary, should had used the money in an effort to have signed Thaddeus Young. Young was a RFA the same summer that WE elected to resign Tay at about $1.5 million per year difference than what Philly is currently paying Young.

Tay had already become rich from the the previous contract. Another bad decision by OUR man Joe.

FORUM - Page 14 Empty Royce White Ready to Walke Away From Basketball

Phillip, you were right, I was wrong. The headline says it all. I just read the comments on this sad turn of events (both for White and the Rockets who were courageous enough to give him a chance) over on nbadraft.net. Even though we both agreed that Anxiety Disorder is a very serious maladjustment, I held out hope that he could make it, and it seems his malady is bigger than the both of us. He tried, I rooted for him.

I wish him well in whatever direction he travels in, and the Houston Rockets remain my 2nd favorite team in the NBA, and I tip my hat to you PhillipBoy.
