FORUM - Page 7 Empty Great Game

Post  Murph Fri Nov 23, 2018 11:23 pm

Another great OT win.  Bruce Brown was the difference in this game.  He single handedly contained Harden.   Harden was 9-27 on the night, and was a -14.  Brown was a team high +18.  And when Brown wasn't in the game, Harden dominated.

As Sparma pointed out, Brown represents everything that SVG was not.  While Van Gundy drafted a defensive stiff like Ellenson, and then didn't play him,  Stefanski drafted a defensive stud like Brown, and then Casey plays him 25 minutes guarding and shutting down the League MVP.

Between Stanley Johnson's defense on forwards, and Brown's defense on guards, we're becoming an outstanding defensive team.

Drummond had another 20-20 night, along with 5 blocks, including 4 on Harden.  Griffin had 28 pts, 9 rbds and 4 asts.

And Jackson finally got hot in the 4th quarter and OT, and had 22 and 6, including 12-14 from free throw line.  Robinson and Bullock shot well.  Robinson was 4-5, and Bullock was 3-5. And Little Ceasar's was rocking again.

Couldn't watch (ugh), but listened to some.

Heard Bruce Brown interviewed, talking about forcing Harden to his weak hand! At +18, he must really have been doing something right. Nice addition. Casey, unlike SVG, seems willing to give youngsters their shots. I'm still pissed about SVG pulling Kennard after 1 minute. Now let's find out if Khyri Thomas is able to give something.

It would be great, and very possible, to have a 4 game win streak by the time we face GS (who are looking very beatable these days).

While Bullock had a big 3, he just isn't scoring enough.

Lots of good things out of this game though.

The big 3 turns out to really be a big 3... finally.

Bruce Brown needs to be developed, he's a SOLID rotation player, and his defense is better than Stanley's most of the time, Stanley is more of a specialist where as Brown is more balanced.

This team has HEART, they wouldn't be denied, they now have something to build on and won't be an easy out!

Seriously?

Again you all sound like last season and the season before that and the one before that in all your comments about the same players.  Nothing Changed!!!!! - Wise

I could take your posts and run them back for any season and they'd still be the same.

And you crazy defense of Stafford... that one has been played so much it's burned a hole in my screen  lol

You complained a lot about the Pistons while they were winning 6 straight ECF's.

Some people always look for things to be unhappy about, others like being happy... I guess we need both, but lighten up brother, it's the holidays.

Man, I feel sorry for the people in your life if the Wolverines happen to lose tomorrow, so I'm rooting extra hard for Michigan  lol lol lol

How do you blow up a NFL team and rebuild?  Doesn't seem like a simple thing to do but perhaps it is time to move Stafford and try something different.  By no means does this change my mind on Stafford as a good QB but damn this organization sucks at putting all the pieces together.   We watched them do this same thing to Sims running him in the ground, Barry forcing him to give up and retire and now Stafford.

Again thank goodness I have my Wolverines in football and basketball ranked 4th and 9th.  This beats pro teams one struggling to finish 8-8 and the other content on an 8th seed and early exit from the playoffs.   Knock off Ohio State and I think National Championship is possible,  and certainly I can smell a Final Four.

I won't go as far as saying the NBA is boring, the the frequency of these overlooked fouls, if it's a star player, is getting ridiculous and harms the game, IMO.

FORUM - Page 7 Empty Watching the end of the Pistons last game reveals that the NBA is not only boring but corrupt

Post  cool breeze Thu Nov 22, 2018 11:43 am

It is getting to the point that almost any professional sport is not fun to watch than regular season NBA games. College basketball is more stimulating because coaches make players do some thinking on the court or they have to sit the bench. You have to know how to play various zone defenses as well as man to man. Teams trap on the low post when they have smaller big men than their opponents. They force teams to shoot a baseline 3 instead of getting a bank shot 2 feet from the basket. A lot of teams who are average know how to play both sides of the court. People who know basketball believe that when you see teams play only one side of the court or there is very little player or ball movement the team you are watching has a very low basketball IQ and they are not in top basketball physical condition. When players are not executing a half court offense, and one guy is dominating the ball while two or more players are bunched together, usually that means the players are not in very good shape or they are inherently lazy type players. Last night I witnessed the Pistons struggle bringing the ball up the court while Smith was standing beyond the 3 point line on the opposite half court while Bullock was standing only 4 feet away from him as well. Neither ever touched the ball and the Pistons were lucky to get the ball passed half court. So much for court spacing or basic things like where is the point guard when the team needs a ball handler to bring it up court to start the half court offense?

But the bigger issue is with the NBA's history of giving a pass to designated star players like the Rockets two guards. If they run directly over the guy they are guarding to get a side out of bounds pass while the ref is only 2 feet away and there is no call, wouldn't somebody say that is suspicious? How about Blake moving to his right and spinning while an opposing player faked contact and fell to the ground and a foul was called on Blake doing the most important possession of the game for the Pistons? No problem that is part of the NBA game. Get used to it. I rank NBA regular season games lower than curling. BORING AND PREDICTABLE and only fans who are the chosen ones can enjoy watching their team win games they shouldn't win. But we have a great "fair commissioner who is concentrating on bringing more women on board as GMs, coaches, refs and announcers. That is where more work needs to be done. Only lawyers can dream this stuff up..

And while the debt is way too high, Trump has only added a fraction of the $10 trillion in debt Obama added.   And Trump inherited 80% of the annual budget deficit from Obama.  But if you Dems are really so worried about the debt, then let's see some proposed spending cuts out of the Democratic House.  Ha...like that will happen.

And aren't all those destitute illegal immigrants streaming across the border going to be expensive to take care of?  Good thing we're made of money.   Rolling Eyes

In all seriousness, the stock market is going to rise and fall.  What really matters are the 4.7 million jobs created since Trump was elected.

That is the thing that is so amazing. People who are so attached to their political party will believe anything such as ii is great to have open borders. That only hurts the poor more especially those legal and illegal farm workers in California. Increase the supply of cheap labor lowers the cost of labor including no need to provide health care for those workers. But being there is no democratic party lead by liberal democrats and instead have a Progressive party led by revolutionaries and backed up by news anchors on CNN-MSMBC, NBC, ABC and CBS and people actually listen to their propaganda, how could they not follow their leaders right or wrong? People Without Borders put out a video showing women and their babies walking North. The problem with that was it was a scam video. Another investigative reporter provided the real deal that showed that 85% are young males. They are coached well by the revolutionary lawyers who are paid by people like George Soros and perhaps our enemy foreign governments. I am asking for asylum because I fear what is going on in my country. Yet when interviewed these young men said the opposite. We can have a great life in America. Doing what is the question? Do Americans want to to be that gullible and help grow the violent gangs we currently should be very worried about being that they have military grade weapons. Watch the series on Americas most violent gangs on Discovery National Geographic channel. For Progressives that is not a problem. But for sure we need to get rid of our Bill of Rights according to the Progressive leaders. People who created that Constitution were racist after all. When will liberal democrats realize that their party has been highjacked? All old liberal democrats should register as Independents like I have done. We no longer have a party. If you tell Progressives that you want to make America great again, that is called nationalism which is bad. nationalism is bad according to the Progressive leaders so all old democrats must get up to speed and say nationalism is a dirty word because the Germans under Hitler wanted to take over the world. Besides it is racist to and selfish to say you want to have lower taxes and free markets. Yes the war cry for Progressives is to hate and identify all republicans as deplorable human beings who as Chris Mathews stated recently that republicans are ignorant people who spend all their time watching NFL football and playing golf. Meanwhile, I read his book on Robert Kennedy and found it to be the worst book ever written on R. Kennedy and it was supposed to be a non fiction book. If you are getting information from Chris and others then I understand why you might fall in line with the party line. The next election might feature a campaign for Progressives such as Make America Horrible Again. Take away All Optimism and Punish The Middle Class With Higher Taxes. Open borders. Watch carefully for signs of racism. Threaten the lives of wives and children of all elected republicans and camp out by their homes. Attack them at airports and restaurants. Get rid of our Constitutional Republic and appoint Maxine Waters as our ruler. She will make the world outside America good again while punishing all Americans who work in the private sector with the exception of all those billionaire tech donors who made her the ruler.

Got to have a sense of humor but America Has Gone Mad Again relating to the open border theme. But I wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving. Notice I have not tried to beat the dead horse aka the Detroit Pistons. They should win the next game against the Suns who are trying hard to lose so as to guarantee a top draft pick again. It will take the Pistons 10 years to build a team once they rid themselves of our Big 5. But Griffin sure did get hot in that dull game against Houston. How was Chris Paul able to go from beyond the 3 point line to within 5 feet of the basket 8 times in the first half after only getting one high screen? Nobody picked him up and for sure Paul was not moving fast. I turned off the game after watching that insanity. Sorry here I go again.

Tough game last night. Capella always gives Drummond problems. I was surprised Casey didn't give Bruce Brown a turn trying to guard Harden.

Hopefully the Pistons can exact revenge at home against the Rockets on Friday.

A really nice story(confession, I hated on him too),

But during Ebron's time in Detroit, no one could trust those hands. Ebron dropped every kind of throw imaginable—high passes, low passes, lasers on the money and soft floaters. He failed to hold onto the kind of catches that little kids routinely make in their backyards. One after another after another.

He doesn't feel that way now. A new city, a new team and a new day have changed everything. The tight end who couldn't do anything right for the Lions can't do anything wrong for the Colts. The Improbable Renewed Swag of Eric Ebron

All of that and scandal after scandal. I never liked Trump, but I sincerely wanted him to do some good for the country.

In his defense, these are Republican policies and he's just signing the bills, so there is plenty of blame to go around, but he wants credit for it and he can have it now.

Just wait until we have to deal with all of this debt he added... things could get worse.

Also the Wizards may be considering moving Wall, Beal or Porter, or any combination. The only easily movable contract is Beal, Wall and Porter both have contracts worth more than they are, IMO.

BTW, I don't want JR, he needs to go find LeBron or the Warriors.

Sparma...yes, it would be great to split with the Rockets.

You know who's starting and playing very well for Houston?...James Ennis III.  We all complain about the Pistons not bringing back Tolliver and Moreland for cheap.  But the 3rd guy who played well for us last season that we didn't bring back was Ennis.

Ennis signed an inexpensive contract of $1.6 million a year with the Rockets.  That looks like a bargain compared that to GRIII's contract of $4.1 million a year.  And while I like GRIII, I might have preferred Ennis III.

Tolliver: My recollection of the situation is that we had no room under the cap for the dough Tolly sought. Nor did we possess rights to exceed the cap to retain him.

Ennis's Thoughts: Houston- playoffs, offensive minded coach, no state tax, warm climate. Detroit- ?????????????? turmoil.

GRIII's Thoughts: It's Detroit, I have them over a barrel. Hand me the lube please.

Let's give the new management some time. They were handed little leverage. A dozen games in and it's clear that neither the HC nor front office is standing pat.

Phoenix hasn't had a winning season in 5 years, and has won a average of 23 games a year for the last 3 years, and will win less than 23 games this year.  And their attendance is 24th in the league, so no one in Phoenix is too excited about them.

Ellenson isn't a center.  He's a slow, skinny, soft as charmin, goofy PF who can't play a lick of defense.  He was literally one of the worst players on the court in several of the Pistons summer league games.
