SVG better figure out a way to integrate Blake Griffin into the offense, or the Pistons are doomed to failure for years to come, starting with Friday's alarming loss. The trade isn't SVG's fault, but if it doesn't work out, it's Van Gundy's career that's going down in a ball of flames, not Gores'.
Oh well...Van Gundy is already set for life, with his $35 million pay-day.
And Gores? He's all set too. He bought this team for $300 million. It's now worth $1.1 billion...not bad for a 7 year investment. And when he finally moves the team to Las Vegas, after years of losing and declining attendance in Detroit, it will be worth $2 billion.
Lifelong Pistons fans? We'll be sh*t-out-of-luck.
Then lets keep our fingers cross they end up with a Top 4 pick because that 1st round pick is protected (Quietly that's what I'm hoping for) I'm still stand fast on my prediction of 39 wins.
I think SVG will get to finish 1 more season even if they fail to make the playoffs and get to prove if these recent moves work or not but I think best case scenario is that they some how luck up and get to keep the pick this year. This way not only do they have Blake and Andre they can now include a draft pick of worth next season. How sweet would that be!!!
I really thought trading for Blake was all about next season anyway and making the playoff this season would only be a bonus if they did but again I'm convince that not making the playoff is the best case scenario. Only if we can hold on to that 1st round pick and then draft smartly.
I heard a couple of rumored comments that Dan Gilbert wants the Pistons if he decides to sell Cleveland which I hear every other day from the talking heads. I think Gores maybe tired of the team and feeling good he made his profit but I never thought he was in it for the long haul anyway which is why I largely cheered for the Ilitch Family to get owner ship. Somehow I wish the Davidson Family was committed to keeping it never understood that not a single member of the family didn't want to carry on the tradition.

Don...yep, I watched the game. So you obviously don't know what you're talking about.
What I saw is that the Pistons were hanging in there with a 3 point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. And then we stopped scoring. We scored a total of 15 points in the 4th quarter and lost the game by 13.
And yes, everyone was standing around on offense, waiting for Blake Griffin to do something. Our offense completely ground to a halt.
I don't know where your irrational hatred of Drummond comes from, but it's really tiresome, and it clouds your thinking. You probably know the most about basketball of anyone on this forum, and yet your observations are so consistently inaccurate, that I worry you're losing touch with reality.
And it happens with other players as well. You were unable to grasp Avery Bradley's defects also, not to mention Stanley Johnson's issues.

This loss felt really different...
SVG was totally out coached and he's really been exposed, IMO.
He complains about the team just standing around, well they do that because of the way he spins how to use Blake.
Oh, and by the way, players stand around when they don't have any plays to run, how about calling a timeout, settling your team down and giving them a few plays to run, that's what good coaches do!
But the book on Detroit that EVERY coach in the association knows is to give bad 3 point shooters room to shoot in the 4th, they're lazy and will always take bad open shots rather than work for the best shot available.
This loss felt different for a few reasons,
1. The team was hyped up and not behaving like themselves. Everybody tried to do too much and things they normally don't try... dare I say hero ball? But they were too on edge to play right, IMO.
2. The Clippers were way more focused, they're just naturally better 3 point shooters, and they're coached better. our guys couldn't wait to get rid of the ball and toss it to Blake... what a bunch of cowards!!!
3. The Pistons defense was horrible and yes, Stanley was bad as well, Harris took him to school and he emerged without a degree, but he did get a dunce cap. Bullock looked like a fool, Drummond keeps thinking he can defend guards when even average ones drive right around him for scores. Blake, who is only average defensively anyway, did have a highlight block, but that was it... in short, we sucked!
I hear people here complaining about Reggie all the damn time, but I'll take Reggie taking over running a pick and roll with Drummond, and now Blake any day of the week over the mess I saw last night.
BTW, Nelson says that SVG is still the same, and unfortunately he's right, the dude hasn't grown as a coach and that's the problem!

Oh...and AD? Wasn't he guarding DeAndre Jordan all night? Jordan had 4 points.
Drummond can't stop everyone who gets by our perimeter defenders for layups. If he tried to cover for all of the mistakes of our perimeter defenders, he'd foul out of every game.
You obviously didn't watch the game Murph. Otherwise you would not have made that statement about AD's defense of Jordan. Please correct me if I am wrong. When was the last time Jordan attempted a 3 point shot? AD was out close t the 3 point line guarding nobody. He did that because he looked too tired to move down into the paint in transition after he attempted those ridiculous shots that had no chance of going in.
Your statement about Johnson is not accurate Murph. Johnson did play defense and you can't blame him for that loss because he played hard and made a lot of powerful paint drives. But why do you always bring up Johnson as if you are trying to get under my skin when I mention either AD or RJ? When our $20+million dollar a year man gets off course and the coach refused to pull him from the game, then somebody has to say something. AD played like an idiot. He was trying to show off. Griffin forced too many shots too but he is the designated scorer and was forced to shoot too many shots because he teammates seemed afraid to move without the ball and demand the basketball. The entire offense cannot just consist of Blake Griffin shooting the basketball. But the offense also cannot be centered around AD. Andre looked like the same player he was at UCONN years ago especially on defense. He was dysfunctional not providing his designated role for the team. Jordan by the way missed point blank dunk shots in the first half. The announcers commented on that at halftime. Jordan didn't play well but that sure wasn't because AD played even average defense. And when Jordan went to the bench, did you like how AD played defense then? If you watched the game then you must have been sleeping when the Clippers took complete control of the paint in the first half and for much of the game. The Clipper outside shooters made a lot of shots in the 4th quarter but if Detroit had played reasonable defense with AD patrolling the paint instead of standing outside the paint, then our Pistons would have had a big lead going into the 4th. If you still have the game, please take a look at the details. AD cannot be the featured offensive threat if this team is going to look like a real team. I don't care if they lose but I care about how they lose. AD must use most of his energy on defense. But he hates playing defense so the future looks bleak. Last night was a repeat of most of the games after December last season relating to AD. Last season featured the 8 foot baseline hook shot and zero defensive effort. Funny the Pistons lost big with that game plan.
SVG must have been given the message by the owner not to be critical of AD if he wants to retain his job. This coach didn't do the right thing last night. Any team in the NBA would have beat the Pistons on a bad night last night with that inept 2nd half performance. When I am critical of AD it is because he will be the difference maker as to if the Pistons are successful or not. Can you please get that Murph. It isn't about Stanley. He is a part of the team. He guards the best skill player. But AD is the big money player now along with Griffin who has to perform at his highest level as well. If AD does not accept and assume the role of a monster paint protector and defender (meaning at least he has to get his arms up and come out to a shooter and challenge the shot) inside the paint when they give up their dribble, then the Pistons will continue to be a dysfunction loser. I think maybe you just looked at the stats and said hey it wasn't AD's fault. Look at those rebounds our big man got. Fools gold this is a dumb team that will continue to lose a lot of games if the owner and head coach do not meet with AD and insist that he must play his role or he must be traded. He was a hot dog last night trying to be the offensive hero. Meanwhile the arena looked half full at best. At least the fans got it right. This team looked like they had found a positive identity and then lost it completely in one night. Griffin had an off night and took too many contested shots. If the offense is struggling and you want to win then it takes incredible effort on defense to make things come out your way. AD kept on thinking he was going to score a lot of points before the All Star game. No coach would create a game plan featuring AD's post up game. AD went off on his own. Maybe his agent told him to do it. Nobody watches what NBA players do on defense. And some fans will just look at the stats and not actually watch games.

I hate to start in on our new star, but we aren't paying Black Griffin $30 million a year to chuck up 3 pointers at the rate of 1-7. In fact, since he's gotten here, BG is shooting 25% from the 3 point line, including 2-12 in his last two games.
Hopefully, this is just a shooting slump. Griffin has consistently shot 33% - 34% from the 3 point line the last 4 years. Hopefully, his average will eventually revert back to 34%.
Nevertheless, this is a disturbing development. Griffin is a leader on the team. If other Pistons see BG settling for an easy 3, they might be more inclined to settle for a 3 themselves, instead of making the extra pass.
When you don't run any form of offense, and the weight of the world is on your shoulders, it is difficult to play basketball well. Everyone is passing the ball to Blake as the shot clock is expiring. No plays are being run at all. It is Blake, you shoot it pal.
But offense is not the biggest problem. The Pistons can't keep leads when they get them. They cannot get stops in crunch time either. Where we thought this team was becoming more hard core with defensive effort they showed in the Cleveland game, now our Pistons are the Washington Generals on defense. Opposing teams play smarter together and provide more effort and skill on defense. Right now the Pistons are an easy out lottery team with not lottery pick. Do we have a 2nd round pick at least???????? One jab at SVG's decision to reduce the amount of players in his rotation. Could Ellenson have played any worse than our big men last night? How about Buycks? Why the trade involving Memphis small forward? Dillon Brooks was the player the Pistons should have gone after on Memphis. Maybe SVG forgot that 2nd round pick Dillon Brooks beat out the player Stan got from that Memphis team. Brooks was a 2nd round pick that none of the experts thought would be successful in the NBA even though he was MVP in the PAC12 and proved throughout the season that he was unstoppable when games were on the line. Didn't that trade cost the Pistons a future 2nd round pick?

Announcers made my point - Piston wins after Blake involved teams playing the 3rd game in 4 nights and the 2nd of back to back games. Pistons struggled in those games too. Team looks worse than before the trade
When I say the team looks worse I mean our team looks dumber than they did before the trade. Our team plays dysfunctional offense especially in this last game. AD has now returned to last year's form. First off, he failed to play any defense at all in the entire first half. I noticed that Blake looked puzzled when the Clippers made many layups. He was playing his man who was outside the paint on the wing. Nobody, I mean no Piston was in sight inside the painted area several times. I tried to find AD so I would watch those layups again. And in each situation, AD was on the same side as Blake but further out around the 3 point line guarding nobody. When the driver or pass went into the paint, AD just watched as if he was a spectator. No worries. He will make it up with his clever post up game. Each time the Pistons made a nice run scoring, AD rested on defense and didn't even bother to get his arms above his waist. AD was too tired to play defense because he was trying to show off on offense. This is the exact same thing he did last season. AD made the All Star team. AD is now a star. Stars in the NBA do not have to play defense until the 4th quarter. That makes sense doesn't it if you are a player who has star power and needs more affection by getting that scoring average up there with Blake.
Piston defense was horrible for another reason. Ish Smith could not match up with any of the Clipper guards. Galloway played in the 2nd half but was not effective in this game. SVG didn't use his ace in the hole but might unleash Nelson next time. Meanwhile, the announcers were saying that they had a talk with SVG who stated that everything will turn around once Reggie Jackson returns. Does the owner and head coach have one track minds? Opposing guards can score at will against our guards. And of course Andre Drummond our All Star, will not provide any resistance for 3 quarters of the game offering 2nd tier defense when drivers get into the paint. AD is concentrating on his offensive moves for the All Star game.
What if the Pistons had just made one trade and instead of getting Blake they had gone after George Hill? I know that the fix is in relating to the entire NBA providing for the needs of Cleveland as long as Labron plays for that team. Then when James moves to another team, the league will get together and send Labron all of the players he requests. Yes, George Hill had to go to Cleveland. After all, Labron wanted him. That is all that counts in the wonderful corrupt NBA. Hill has a high basketball IQ, is not ball dominate and can get teammates in proper spacing. And Hill is a good defender with size. I thought the Pistons looked really good against Miami before Griffin arrived. And they had their number one pick and their 2nd round pick too. This stupidity before the trade deadline is not on SVG or his staff. This nonsense is the full responsibility of Tom Gores who was the person who insisted on the trade involving Blake Griffin. I have nothing against Blake and like the way he plays. But basketball is a team game. One player cannot do it all and Blake Griffin is not Labron James. James could not make this team successful either. Last night the Pistons could have blown out the Clippers in the first half if they had the ability or will to play average defense. But then again, the Nets proved the Pistons cannot defend any team in the NBA so all opposing teams will not have to worry when Piston players like Bullock get hot from the outside. They all know that the Pistons with AD as their rim protector will be AWOL for 3 quarters. But look at his amazing stats. He is an All Star. Funny but I do not know anyone in my personal life who even watches the All Star game. It is perhaps the dumbest event in professional sports. Of course the NFL Pro Bowl is almost as bad as the NBA All Star game. Our All Stars will experience glory and then return to play more low IQ basketball. There is a reason why Tom Gores cannot fill the arena. I imagine they lost many more fans after the Clipper game. Just when I thought the Pistons were forming a real positive identity, AD and his crew showed us all that they are the same low basketball IQ self centered individuals who have no idea as to how a good basketball team should function. Last game was just more of the same thing I watched during the last two Piston wins. Next June we Piston fans will all be watching to see which player the Clippers pick in the first round. Maybe a great point guard will be in that spot. But we don't need any new point guards. We have Reggie, Ish, and Nelson. All are great defenders that all teams fear. And they are play makers too. You can't make this stuff up. While the Pistons were supposed to be building a young team for the future and keep their draft picks in hope they might get lucky to draft a real talent like all of the other struggling teams do, our owner goes in the opposite direction.
So for this insanity to work now, it will be up to Blake Griffin to teach Andre Drummond the facts of life. No AD you will not attempt any more of your wild and crazy off balance shot attempts from 3 to 4 feet away from the basket. AD will have to limit his shooting to dunks under the basket. And Blake will have to insist that AD become a better defender and stay in the paint while getting his arms up at least. No more looking back AD from beyond the foul line when you are on defense. I know that will be very hard to remember because you learned how to watch from your first teacher, Greg Monroe. And Blake will also need to discipline himself with a whip if he continues to try to force his shot against 4 defenders. And finally Blake will really have his hands full once Reggie Jackson returns with his ball dominate tendencies and lack of engagement on defense. How can team overcome the lack of WILL by the starters who occupy the center and point guard positions? Two players out of five who are baffled with the thought of trying to play man to man defense. Last night AD didn't have to worry about boxing out for defensive rebounds, he didn't even bother to get into the paint many times at all on defense for 3 quarters. He was very tired after missing all of those shot attempts. What was Blake and Andre's shooting percentage in that game? I hate the thought of watching the next game. If you are a young high school kid, I would recommend that you do not watch the Pistons or you might acquire some bad habits. The Pistons needed Moreland last night. At least he knows what needs to be done on both offense and defense. It is not fun to watch players who do not know what needs to be done at specific times in games. Tip for AD. Stop watching your teammates play defense and get your ass moving where it is supposed to be. Stop trying to be an offensive star. Liston to your coach instead of your agent. I will say this again. This team will go as far as AD takes them. If he continues to play like an idiot, then the Pistons will not make the playoffs. Griffin must assert himself a a leader and make a break through involving AD's lack of mental engagement.

The Money Is Tight
Sparma wrote:How could the Clippers have signed Lou Williams for 24 mil for 3? Isn't that around the league average? The commentator (Doug Gottlieb?) commented that Lou's learned to go both ways effectively, and has improved his 3 point shooting. 13th season!? Impressive!
I've heard several Talking Heads say that money is going to be real tight with free agency this summer for a lot of players so I'm not shocked Lou signed that extension with the Clippers. My guess is that a lot of players out priced themselves and will be force to resign with their original teams or take far less when signing with different teams.
Most of the money will be designated for the very top tier Free Agents this summer. I think he could've had gotten more out of the Clips or signing elsewhere but the reality for a lot of fringe players is that they can either sit out hoping the dollars will be there or sign the best offer available. They kind of did it to themselves and owners are wising up it seems as well. Just look at our current situation with the bulk of our salary going to Reggie, Blake and Andre there are a bunch of teams just like us so it about to get tight for a lot of players.

On the road, and started watching late in the 3rd, so maybe it's my fault.
Didn't notice any alligator arm woes during the stretch I watched, but did see a poorly organized O and a bunch of point blank misses (esp. by Blake and Drummond). Along with a confused D. That 4th quarter hurt.
Beautiful block by Griffin followed by a fantastic save seemed to turn the game around... in favor of the Clippers!?
Avery's missed 19 3s in a row? He did a nice job of cutting to the basket for scores a couple of times.
How could the Clippers have signed Lou Williams for 24 mil for 3? Isn't that around the league average? The commentator (Doug Gottlieb?) commented that Lou's learned to go both ways effectively, and has improved his 3 point shooting. 13th season!? Impressive!
It looked like Blake exited quickly after the game without interacting with old teammates. Can't follow the whole picture on TV, so I'm not sure what happened. Did see Tolliver hanging out afterwards.
The national commentators noted how Bullock wasn't getting shots after a strong start. Does he get enough respect from teammates?

Absolutely!!!!!! Even when they manage to win it's in-necessary just score the rest will take care of itself. SVG offense makes things hard than they should be

Luke Short Arms...
Is finally becoming a big problem!
He is getting his stuff blocked regularly because his arms are so short!

They Should All Be Pumped For Tonights Game
Even after all the trades I'm still iffy on if we make it to the playoffs or conceding I'm wrong about my 39 win prediction. Blake and Andre looks good there's no debate about that and I would be all gun-ho about if this was something we were looking at from the start of the season. It's going to be a dog fight the rest of the season coming off the ASG break.
Not sure what Reggie will get when he returns either way we should be better, but what Reggie we get isn't my real concern if Reggie doesn't trust that ankle when he does get back we won't see either Reggie it'll be something worse. I think SVG could've have done a little better than Nelson but kind of understand why he made this choice.

Reggie
I notice that a lot of the references to Reggie these days sort of have "If he does xxyyzz" in them, and I understand the history... But...
I believe it's just that... History! Reggie will be fine and will increase the power of this team in the 4th quarter. Teams will have to contend with both he and Blake, with Drummond a potential alley Opp candidate from either of them, and that's going to be VERY hard to stop.
Both Reggie & Blake can get to the rim or drain the 3, and at that point, the only IF's will be if we execute the play.
Here is some info on Reggie's injury: He has a Grade 3 Ankle Sprain, the worst one.

Almost all ankle sprains can be treated without surgery. Even a complete ligament tear can heal without surgical repair if it is immobilized appropriately.
A three-phase program guides treatment for all ankle sprains—from mild to severe:
- Phase 1 includes resting, protecting the ankle and reducing the swelling.
- Phase 2 includes restoring range of motion, strength and flexibility.
- Phase 3 includes maintenance exercises and the gradual return to activities that do not require turning or twisting the ankle. This will be followed later by being able to do activities that require sharp, sudden turns (cutting activities)—such as tennis, basketball, or football.
This three-phase treatment program may take just 2 weeks to complete for minor sprains, or up to 6 to 12 weeks for more severe injuries.

Happy But Unimpressed
Five wins. Tap the brakes. All the teams on the second game of back-backs, I believe. I know Memphis, Miami, Portland and Brooklyn were completing a back-to-back, all having lost on the previous game, and we caught an imploding and reeling Cavaliers. Not saying this to piss on their efforts, but just to say we should have won those games and not in nail-biting fashion. SVG still has little figured or configured and so goes to Iso for Blake...not sustainable, but it is a start and such a luxury. I love Blake's game, especially the seamless way he is transitioning in his prime toward a better shooter and playmaker and Bully.
This will work against the easy matchups, but against real contenders, even with Blake, we are on probably on another losing streak. SVG gonna have to CoachUP! Optimal scenario is we win out to the All Star Game and (I can't believe we are in Groundhogs day and our season once again hangs in the balance of Weggie's fragile body and fragile ego). Will he get in where he fits in. SVG bloviating about a big three (he's confusing his fantasy teams with reality).
But yet and still, a run to the second round is underway. A lot depends on a lot of moving pieces. Will Weggie's fragile ego hold up under pressure. Will StupidVG shove Weggie back into the lineup again and break what does not need to be fixed. Will Blake tolerate SVG as he reveals his stupidity, which he will! He at least did not trade Stanimal and Luke.
We are in position to win our next three vs Atlanta and the Clippers. Not sure we have Boston's number anymore since they picked up Moose who can do some damage inside and Brad Stevens is a genius who can definitely get the most out of him. Now with the last trade, we should be pretty complete. Can SVG make all the moving pieces work. Can he wake up from his Orlando-flashback wet dream?
What We Working With?
Rough Riders: Stanimal, Ennis? Defense anyone? Ennis means we now can potentially field a decent defensive team on the floor, plus Ennis looks like he has Pistons DNA. We probably can't keep him after the season, but I see why SVG got him.
Playmakers: Griffin, Dre, Ish, Stanimal. Nothing broke here! Not sure I like SVG playing BG at the 5 so much, but I guess it is the way of the NBA to pivot to smallball. Where does Weggie fit in playmaking? Will he regain his 13 assists form from his last game, or will he be Weggie?
Pace. If anything we need more of it. Ish needs to get back to running the second unit, but for now, he is our guy.
Blake has opened things up for Ish and he is ballinout! even hitting threes. Last 5 Games: .500 from three and .541 from the field.
Shooters Bullock, Luke. Hit or miss. Bullock needs to be more aggressive. .450 from three and .514 from the field Ditto Luke. .416 from three and .441 from the field. They may need more seasoning before they are really ready to hit their shots in prime time. We will see.
BullyBall I love it. If you can't be BadBoys, can't be GoingToWork, can we be the BullyBallers. Stanimal's aggressive rise, Dre's response to Blake, and Blake's appreciation of Dre and SJ means we can BullyBall our way to the second round if SVG doesnt let Weggie ruin it.

On The Bright Side...
You know what this reminds me of? Remember in 2008 right after Joe Dumars traded Billups for Iverson? He then completely freaked out and dumped Arron Afflalo and Amir Johnson for nothing (Frederico Oberto's expiring contract and a 2nd round pick), so that he could sign Chris Wilcox, for no apparent reason? Afflalo and Johnson went on to have long, productive, smart, over-achieving NBA careers, like we all knew they would. Both of them are still playing today, 10 years later. Chris Wilcox?...not so much.
SVG just dumped Willie Reed and Brice Johnson for no apparent reason. Those guys are going to have long productive careers also.
On the bright side...maybe Nelson can impart some PG wisdom to Ish and Reggie, that causes them to become pass-first PGs, instead of create-your-own-shot PGs.
I mean Reggie averaged 9.2 apg his first year in Detroit. Now he averages 5.5 apg. And Ish averaged 7 apg as a starter in Philadelphia. Now he averages 4.4 apg. Maybe Nelson can be a positive influence.
Also Jackson's return has now been pushed back two more weeks to early March.
James Ennis looks like a scrappy, athletic SF who can shoot. He's a Reggie Bullock clone. He will back up SJ.
Eric Moreland is now probably back in the rotation.
And Ellenson might continue to get some minutes in order to develop.

Trades
Sounds like I'm the exception but I'm hopeful about Jameer Nelson. Had heard Chicago would have bought him out (tomorrow). The Pistons gave them just enough to stand first in line. Not a second rounder, right, but an exchange of second rounders a few years down the line, along with a marginal NBAer who just got a substantial penalty for domestic abuse. Think I read in the Chicago Tribune that (part of) an exception was transferred, whether the injury exception from Leuer (which seemed likely not to be used per SVG) or (part of) the exception in the Griffin trade. That may be the main reason Chicago made the trade; sounds like they were happy to get anything, seeing as they were about to get rid of Jameer. I like big guards myself, but that offer wasn't exactly going to land us John Wall. Sounds like Nelson shoots a hair below league average from 3, which we can't say of Ish. He should be quite a competent 2nd or 3rd string PG, while he lasts. For me, the sad thing is that Buycks likely will disappear soon (when Reggie returns); he got off to a good start, then showed his limits. And, to my surprise, Galloway doesn't seem to be able to handle many PG minutes. The presence of Ish and Jameer may be enough to keep Reggie in line, limiting his minutes if he doesn't play the right way (and he can, as shown in his last, injury, game).
Don't know Ennis. He shoots around league average from 3, which we can't say of Stanley J. Also (responding to Don) Langlois wrote about his length and his ability to fit into defensive line ups, which sounds valuable.
In all, I now like the Griffin trade more than I did at first blush, as SVG's added to the bench, replacing a couple of guys who didn't stand to play much for Stan.
I think the team should have gone in a different direction from the get go with Stan, aiming for long term excellence. Clearly, the dude is all in for the present, partly due to selfish reasons. Within that framework, I like how things have shaped up. As a teenager, for some reason I got excited about George Allen's "The future is now" guideline, which got Washington to the Super Bowl. Looks like Stan's buying into that motto.
It's been fun to watch the team recently.

Lesson Learned I Hope
I'm cracking up at Thomas because I was kind of impress with the young man I even liked him in college but it was from a distance clearly he had game but this situation with Cleveland made me look at him totally different. I just didn't like the way he handle himself off the court with the media, or in the locker room.
I thought he was out of bounds with the Love situation especially but just out of bounds completely with the whole team. He should have been the quietest player on the team but he was feeling himself from the time he got there even in being injured because I didn't like the Pierce situation either. Problem is he thought he was on James level, he was feeling himself coming off the success he had in Boston. He thought he was an equal replacement for Kyrie and was to stupid to see that James never wanted him and twice beg the team not to trade Kyrie for him.
Deciding to play not fully recovered from hip injury only hurt his chance for a big contract he might have been better off just sitting out the season and it really didn't help with him opening his mouth as much as he did.

They'll be serving tea and crumpets on the top of his head every trip down the court. Look, I've seen him play well in a couple of games, there's still a little gas left in the old tank along with all of those fumes, but seriously, what additional value does he bring. What's next, we conjure up the ghost of Bison Dele???
This is the kind of move you keep hidden, like an ugly girl used for a quick booty call!
Don, you're wrong, SVG doesn't close his door and take a nap, he's in his office jerking off to old Orlando tapes
If we can't bring back Bison aka Brian Williams at least when he played at Arizona, then how about his brother Miles? I think Bison Dele died around 2002 and I am not sure if his older brother was ever charged for that murder. Bison's heart was not in the game while in Detroit after he helped win a championship with the Bulls. Maybe his ghost could spend time in the coaches office with SVG and Jameer. God I hate that trade. Maybe Tom Gores could sell extra tickets if he advertised a one on one matchup winner take all between Buycks and Nelson. I would put my money on Buycks and spot Nelson 4 field goals. I guess SVG believes the Piston point guards are too tall. Got to get shorter which gives the Pistons an advantage against Paul George and Spencer Dinwiddie and 90% of the other NBA guards in current rotations around the league. SVG needs someone to talk to during those long road trips.
James Ennis is averaging 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds. Maybe he will get hot but I was enjoying the growth of Bullock and Kennard. I am not sure about his defensive ability. Anyone know? What I don't like is the fact that SVG has thrown in another 2nd round pick. So Memphis was willing to part with Ennis maybe because they picked up a real keeper in the 2nd round last summer when they drafted the PAC12's most valuable player who beat out Ennis as a rookie. I want that guy not Ennis. SVG is willing to take the leftovers and is willing to sacrifice all of our draft picks knowing he won't be around to pick up the pieces. Most of the younger and smarter GMs around the NBA know that the kids who are in college or about to enter collage keep on coming with great talent and work ethic. Maybe SVG is gearing the Pistons to last as long as Blake Griffins knees. If he goes down with an injury who is to blame though? The press reported that bringing in Blake was the owners idea. Maybe he is planning on selling the team in a couple of years.
The Piston point guards suck. They will never scare anyone and teams will look forward to matchups with our point guards if our team makes the playoffs. So thanks for nothing SVG. Stan will have to go to the point forward concept if the Pistons make the playoffs. Cleveland is in great shape once again. They got the guard I wanted for the Pistons. I wanted to see what Brice Johnson can do. That idea no longer exists.
Maybe over the summer SVG can find more players other teams don't want. It scares me to think that he will be coming back right now. I grade the Pistons trades - HORRIBLE-STUPID. Now that is out of my system, I will welcome both players and hope for the best but can anyone get excited? I would be excited if SVG had not given away Spencer Dinwiddie. Didn't push the ball enough. Didn't recover quickly enough from his ACL injury. The fans aren't watching so what the hell. OK give Spencer away. We need smaller players to play point guard. Meanwhile, I couldn't believe some of those passes Dinwiddie made throwing the ball on a dime to an open shooter on the opposite side of the court last night. Spencer sure can see the entire court as Isiah Thomas pointed out is actually necessary for a team to function properly. SVG doesn't know that yet. He loves the point guards with tunnel vision who can't defend but push the basketball along with all players who jack up long range jump shots early in the shot clock. Can't put on my Piston hat today.

Cavs should be a LOT better...
This trade with the Lakers is very interesting.WTF wrote:I'm tripping on the Cavs seem they've cleaned house of all their problems some of the moves have me cracking up though like trading Wade back to Miami that's too funny thought the Cavs never should have picked him up. The Cavs get Clarkson & Nance, both very good young players, Clarkson is a combo guard, but he can score with good handles, Nance is a decent PF that should do well with James. Click on the hoops hype link to see the NBA leading talent they got today, not just from the Lakers.
It gets more interesting looking at the Lakers! They have Ball as their PG, so who starts? Will Isiah come off the bench or will Ball? Can't wait the see the explosion if Ball gets benched from his crazy Daddy.http://hoopshype.com/2018/02/08/nba-trade-cleveland-cavaliers-jordan-clarkson-larry-nance-rodney-hood-george-hill/ wrote:Jordan Clarkson leads the NBA with 274 points off the bench since Jan. 1, just ahead of the Clippers' Lou Williams (270) over that span, according to NBA Advanced Stats. Can't figure why Rose looked so inviting in the first place.
If nothing else these guys will restore the hunger and hustle that has been absent. They will be willing listeners / learners eager to please James. Ought to be interesting.
