25 MILLION !!!!!!!!!!!

Post  WTF on Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:25 am

That's a lot of Cheddar hehe

IMO I really think Joe needs tyo take a win now approach and prepare for by making at least one more trade before the deadline to contend next season. Not only does he have the 25 million in flexibility, a lottery pick, he also has a trade chip in Stuckey (BTW I'm not for trading him).

Please allow me to dream for a moment: that my front court next season was Josh,Adlrige and Andre and somehow through the Grace of God I could still hold on to Monroe. It may not be forever but I for at least the next 2 season I could keep this front court intacted.

Please allow me to dream further that with great luck we land a pick this summer somewhere between 1 through 5 and Joe decided to draft Trey Burke (He'll go in the Top Five)

Dreaming even more: LFfalls down and hits his head forgetting he's a head coach and Sloan decides "hey I want to coach the Pistons next season. WOW!!!!!!

So in my perfect world I have a starting lineup of Trey, Brandon, Josh, Aldrige, Andre and my next four bench players are Singler, Stuckey, Moose and Charlie. WE WOULD RULE THE EAST and win it all next year. That's how Joe needs to thinking.

Next trade?

Post  Sebastian on Sun Feb 03, 2013 2:43 pm

Move: Corey Maggette and Moose to Portland for Aldridge.

[Only admins are allowed to see this link]

I know folks are ready to see Stuckey gone, but moving Stuckey is not a smart move, at this point. The reason why are: 1) Stuckey is a "specialist" and I mean that in the most positive terms - he and B. Knight are the only PGs that are contracted through, next season and he comes at a discount, next season and 2) his role as the first guard off the bench is a position that WE don't have to correct.

Acquiring LA would provide US with the perfect compliment to Dre Drummond. He (LA) is a guy that WE can go to when a bucket is needed.

I say use Jose as a tutor to B. Knight for the remainder of the season, but then use his expiring contact to acquire O.J. Mayo, during the free agency period.

Also, trade Maxey to the Kings for Jason Thompson. The new owners of the Kings may not be interested in bing the custodians of Thompson's contract (4 yrs/$5.25 million) for another four after this season, but it is a relative manageable contract going forward in the current CBA.

[Only admins are allowed to see this link]

With OUR draft pick draft the kid from Georgetown, Otto Porter (a younger and potentially better version of Tay).

PG- B. Knight, Stuckey
SG- O.J. Mayo, English
SF- Otto Porter, Singler
PF- LA, Jason Thompson, Charlie V.
C- Dre Drummond, The Ukraine

Antiquated Thinking

Hell, I'm just glad to hear Joe admit that having a true PG is important. Seems like a step in the right direction. 5 years too late, but a step none-the-less.

I would forgive Joe if he said that he's been wrong all along, and that he now realizes he was foolish in thinking that a backcourt of combo Guards would suffice. And that he's sorry about his outlandish "Antiquated thinking" comments years ago that may have insulted the intelligence of the majority of the team's fan base. And then stand at mid-court in the Palace wearing only a pair of boxers and allow people to throw tomatoes at him.

Then, and only then, would I forgive him for the last 5 rotten stinking seasons full off clusterfucked roster moves.

Yeah Fly I thinking we lost our collective minds we dum dum said we didn't need a traditional PG.

SuperBowl

Post  FlyDog on Sun Feb 03, 2013 4:52 pm

Not sure who to root for.......I hate both teams. All I know is, that if the Ravens win, folks in the French Quarter better watch themselves. When the Ravens win SuperBowls, folks tend to get mysteriously stabbed to death. Something about "Jesus made him do it" or some other bs nonsense?

Ya Wanna Hear A Ray Lewis Joke?

Post  FlyDog on Sun Feb 03, 2013 5:01 pm

Wanna hear it, here it go......

When Ray tore his triceps muscle, he described to the team doctor a stabbing pain. The Dr. Tells him, "Simple Ray......next time you feel the urge to stab somebody just use the other arm." Ray told the Dr. that he was preaching to the choir, pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

Gov'ment Bureaucracy At It's Worst

Post  Murph on Sun Feb 03, 2013 5:11 pm

Seriously, how long does it take to get a damn work visa? And why was this never a problem before? I mean Calderon has been playing at least 41 games a year in the United States for the last 8 years!

Too bad Calderon didn't just sneak across the Mexican boarder. Then he'd have no problem working. facepalm

So close

Post  Sparma on Sun Feb 03, 2013 5:37 pm

The Lakers hit the inbounds pass by Kobe with .4 seconds to go in the first half; AD missed (with some help from Gasol) the inbounds pass to end the game.

Bynum's a big time player. You'd think a contender would make a decent offer to get him. Tough miss by him near the end.

As a basketball fan, I'm glad to see Gasol get back into the flow of things, even if it came at the expense of the Pistons today.

Exciting game. The Pistons will win plenty of games if they play like this moving forward.

I see Knight had seven assists. He had at least two foolish cross court passes that had no chances of making it though.

I was thinking "Metta" meant loving-kindness. Evidently, it can be translated in several ways including "inoffensive".

Grizz, honestly, I didn't agree with the flagrant, I thought it was a simple foul.

The "Punch" was a love tap, and Knight should have been mad, but he's been hit MUCH harder and sent to the floor, and a flagrant wasn't called!

I think because it was the player formerly known as Artest, they felt that a harsher penalty was deserved, and to sen a message that folks need to calm down.

In that spirit, I can partially agree, but come on....

So you dont think Rodman would have gotten thrown out of a game for making contact with the face of an opponent with a clenched fist?

and another thing on a similar issue .. actually . that last play where Gasol undercut Drummond on the alley oop had plenty of contact .. Refs swallow whistle for an elite NBA team .. If Drummond had under cut Gasol on the last play of the game... do you think the refs would have called a foul? Just a star vet vs rookie thing? Still bs .. but ..

Oracle . I agree it wasnt that bad .. love tap ... Anyway .. headline in the Detroit News says it was a punch .. Just hate seeing Meta Idiot trying to start anything after the Malice in the Palace free for all .. Figuring he hasnt learned his lesson .. Jmax should have clocked Meta Jackass.. That is what the PFs are for .. Enforcers .. Jmax did confront Meta Artass at least... Not that worked up about it .. since we are not exactly contending this season but ..

Come on, as the Oracle has said, it wasn't that bad; if MWP wanted to hurt BK7, it wouldn't have been a problem...it was more of a move to antagonize Brandon, and take his head out of the game. Only a wimp, who's never had his ass kicked, don't know the difference between a "rub" with the back of the wrist, to a clinched fist being smashed into 'yo face. BK7, rightfully so, didn't appreciate being manhandled by a 260 pounder, and reacted to that.

DX .. 1.... Would Rick Mahorn have been allowed to do that rub down so blatantly? 2. Would Rick Mahorn have gotten Meta Jackass back for working over our starting PG? (1) Not likely .. .(2) Hell YES ... Doesnt matter so much now that we are not contending but it does matter .. and will matter if when we are .. If the Refs dont give you respect ... someone on the Pistons has to make sure we do ... The better the team gets . the more need for the team to have each other's back .. We are not there yet but .. no time for the present for having someone on the team do some enforcing .. I nominate Jmax .. My turn for a COME On .. Why do you NOT want our team to take care of its own if the refs dont? Not a word about getting physical with the opposing team in return? You cannot compete in this league if you dont have somebody big and strong on your team ready to lay someone out to send a RETURN message .. Otherwise . it is .. go ahead .. walk all over our PG with your PF . .who cares .. Do what you want .. we will lie down for you if you get tough with us .. Didnt like the outcome of that ..

7 SECONDS, AND COUNTING DOWN

Post  deusXango on Sun Feb 03, 2013 10:18 pm

This is the need for Jose; had Calderon been in the game, at the crucial end, the likelihood we would have won is so much greater, than what we witnessed today. Bynum is a hell of an offensive weapon, and brought us that far but, he is not an orchestrator of an offense; the "hero" came out of him at the wrong time...the same would have happened with Stuckey or Knight if they had the ball in the last 7 seconds.

Lil' Larry didn't do bad as a coach this afternoon either...he out coached the "nut" on the Lakers bench, that's for damn 'sho. My feeling of ambivalence is, when Jose is cleared to play, Lil' Larry will start making some rational decisions, and we'll play our way out of the lottery and into the playoffs; we'll lose our first round pick, and Joe's hand will be forced to make some decisions with that CAP money...can he spend any of it wisely? Who will he re-sign out of Calderon, Maxiell, and Bynum? Will he re-sign them all? I hope there's a new "sheriff" in town because I know what the old Joe would do.
