"Allowing a person to drive while under the influence" Empty "Detroit Pistons Season Wrap" This person must have never watched one Piston game who wrote the article

Sit in the office and ponder over the stats to find out the truth can get you in big trouble especially if you are the owner or GM. This article on the right makes perfect sense if you hadn't had the misfortune of actually watching the Piston games this past season. How many times have we heard the nonsense that points to the cause of the downward slide into the toilet being caused from lack of scoring. Of course it was difficult to score with the lame offense the Pistons used. Watching Cleveland move without the basketball with big men setting hard screens and the ball going side to side and inside out all using the entire court instead of half of the court and then taking wide open 3 point shots was like the opposite of two worlds when thinking of how Stan's offense worked. He wanted more made 3 point shots but wash't concerned with the lack of effort to get those shots. You have to have players who can penetrate under control. Other players who can move without the basketball to set screens not stand in the corners. You can't allow your point guard to go wild on every possession using up the 24 second clock. Where was that mentioned in the article?

Defense is the main reason why Detroit lost most of their games. There was no improvement and in fact the team was worse than the previous season. That won't show up in the stats unless you break down how first quarters played out and how the last half of the 4 quarter played out in the regular season games. Opposing teams lightened up their defense in crunch time. They got too many easy layups in the first quarter of games. Opposing teams usually scored on most possessions so Detroit could never get out on a break in the fourth quarter. In the 4th and deciding quarter of most NBA games, the players seemed to play with less effort while their opponents played like their lives depended on winning. No shot blocking is a real problem that wasn't mentioned. Just a blanket statement by a stat guy to spread disinformation mostly that was most likely provided by Piston management. The Piston offense was horrible in the 4th quarter of games and that is on Stan Van Gundy for allowing his point guards too much freedom and not insisting on running some damn offensive plays that the team practices for crunch time. You have to move the basketball and move without the basketball and you have to have sacrifice players who will set screens. We don't have those players and we don't have the coaches to can prohibit the nonsense that has been allowed. There is no discipline and no accountability with protected players who continue to screw things up. That is on the head coach.

For the creator of that article I have scolded as a planter of disinformation never mentioning HEART and the need for HIGH BASKETBALL IQ that never shows up in stats, I just want to know why you have a need to insult our intelligence as fans. We see players who are dysfunctional. They get their asses beat by making fundamental errors when it counts. One error took them out of the playoffs when Drummond floated too far under the basket, did not know where his man was located to box him out, never thought of boxing him out and the resulting tip in that never would happen on a team of real professionals. That is why this team lost so many games this past season. It wasn't about not having great 3 point shooters it was how they played all facets of the game so poorly. And the coaching staff never made one player better.

The big move suggested in this article would be to trade Leuer. Please tell me how that is going to happen? Why would any team want to play for Leuer's contract.

We have to keep repeating what we saw this past season or we might forget and be happy when Piston management sells us down the river when they sign Pope to that insane 25 million dollar contract. Did the homer writer of this article mention what will happen if Pope doesn't blossom into a super star to justify $20-$25 million? What if Pope plays the game like he has over his entire career after being drafted? Does Pope know the type of sacrifice it takes to become a super star player? After that contract is signed this Piston team will lose big for at least 5 straight years. the big thrill might be making the 8th spot in the playoffs and then losing in the first round. Does the Spurs management base business decisions based on potential and guess work? Don't most GMs wait and see if the player is a superstar until they start playing super star money? They did it with Drummond and now with Pope. We will be forced to wait it out until Jackson, Drummond, and pope's contracts expire and Stan Van Gundy is gone and hopefully the owner sells the team to someone who will do the right thing. Pope will be making more than a lot of really good stars on other teams and he still cannot dribble the basketball properly. Is he a difference maker? Does he have the ball handling skills of Leonard? Does he have the basketball IQ of any of the top 7 rotation players on Cleveland or Golden State? Can he play defense as well as the young Avery Johnson who got his butt kicked by Cleveland last night? Does Pope recognize situations on defense and offense quickly? Why was Pope incapable of guarding either Wall or Beal in the match ups against Washington? Can Pope play the pick and roll plays well? It seems that management is not interested in breaking down film and finding the true facts. At no time did I see Pope show leadership ability and transform the Pistons into a true fighting force by anything he did on the hardwood. He is an average to below average NBA starting 2 guard. How in hell could a GM consider playing that man $25 million a year? Every opposing team in the NBA will be laughing at Detroit next season like opposing players like Wall and Jackson's former teammates at Oklahoma laughed when Stan Van Gundy gave Jackson his money and when they gave Drummond his big money. We will have 3 dysfunctional NBA players of average to below average ability taking up all of the money. That will be a disaster. Stan the Man doesn't care. He will move on to retirement. As this writer says, What is wrong? Why the delay? Get the deal done and sign Pope. Idiot!

By the way our Pistons got their asses kicked so badly last season by teams that got blown out by Cleveland and some of those playoff teams are considering blowing up their teams and starting over. But Piston management still thinks they have something special. If there ever was a team that needed to be blown up and the coaching staff fired it is the current form of the Detroit Pistons. We are witnessing this Cleveland team do things that I have never seen before by any team against any opponent. They played almost perfect basketball on both ends of the floor for the first half of two games. No team could have withstood that tornado. No player has ever played at the level of Labron James based on the first two games of this Boston series. Not Michael Jordan nobody. That was freaking crazy. And it proves that the most important ingredient to winning is to destroy the CONFIDENCE your opponent might have had before the tip off. Every Boston player knew it was over before the first quarter ended. I still do not think the Boston players will roll over. If Cleveland players become human again, or some key Cleveland player turns an ankle or has a significant injury, the Celtics are capable of being a lot more competitive then they have shown so far. Cleveland is so mentally and physically strong right now it will be difficult to contemplate anyone including Golden State not getting blown out in the finals.

My secretary could have used Pope's lawyer to get her drunk driving charge reduced. She had to spend 4 weekends in jail plus pay for the ignition breath test to be installed in her vehicle plus a more punishment that I can no longer recall. She no longer drinks alcohol and was not a big drinker at any time in her life. Her blood test was less than Pope's. I was just wondering who was driving if it wasn't KCP. He allowed a mystery undisclosed person to operate his vehicle it seems. Was that sentence a mis print. "Not my fault" as George Bush 1 used to say. That must work in Auburn Hills. I am happy KCP was able to get the sentence reduced. We all make mistakes and I believe the first time offender should get a pass if nobody gets hurt.
