Pistons: I almost turned off the Pistons in the first half, but stuck with them to see them remember who they were and who they were playing.

They looked terrible early and great late!

Lions: The Lions backed into the playoffs as the Redskins lost, so now they need a win to win the division and get a much needed bye to gather their strength... let's see what happens!

ANDRE: Do you all get it now after watching this last game? Does Stan Van Gundy get it? I know he gets it but how can he give up on the so called franchise player so soon? He needs to do it. How many times did Andre Drummond fail to look back to see where Howard was on the floor when one of the Hawks players put up a shot? In one key Atlanta possession, Howard did get away with a push to tip in a 2nd chance opportunity but that only happened because Drummond did what he always does on defense, he just looks at the basket and allows his man to move into an open area to get an offensive rebound. Howard made Drummond look like an idiot and Drummond most likely took his shower thinking he played a good game. If anyone looks at Drummond's stats and not actually watch games, you would think that Andre is something special. But I guarantee that Drummond will always be on a losing team throughout his entire career unless he somehow can acquire a higher basketball IQ. It doesn't matter how big you are, you have to screen out your man and you have to have the ability to anticipate and get your damn hand up and at least attempt to block shots. Game after game, Andre offers next to nothing relating to shot blocking. It us usually his assigned man who gets offensive rebounds. He is a horrible free throw shooter not trustworthy with the ball in his hands on offense. Fans are wrong to blame the coaching staff. There is no coach on that Piston roster who doesn't lose sleep after watching Andre go brain dead on defense game after game. Howard did everything he wanted to do and Howard is at the end out his career. Paul Millsap loved it whenever a teammate switched off so Andre had to guard him. If you don't have the right instincts as a big man, it is almost impossible not to hurt your team's chances of success. Andre is young but throughout his stay in Detroit has not improved at all on the defensive end of the floor, He is still making the same mistakes. I am tired of beating up on the coaches. the only fault of Stan Van Gundy is the fact that he hasn't traded Andre yet. He must do it while the big guy has value.

SMITH: The idea of playing Smith and Jackson together is insane. Right now Smith has to be the worst point guard who currently is getting playing time in the NBA. He did make some shots in the 2nd half but the guy cannot defend anyone and he keeps turning the ball over at the worst possible moments. Beno needs to become the backup point guard and the experiment of using Jackson and Smith together has to be stopped NOW. Or the coach could use Stanley Johnson as a point forward. He seems to be the only player who has the ability to get the ball to players at the right moment and place in the half court offense. The Pistons showed some character while making their comeback I never fault their effort either. But the real truth is that we Piston fans watch the worst point guards currently playing in the NBA. There is not doubt about it. Jackson is improving on offense and is trying harder on defense so there is a chance that things could get better if Smith is taken out of the rotation for awhile. I would try to trade Drummond and throw in Smith if there are any takers.

All would not be lost if Drummond and Smith leave. I would make this trade to secure a extremely high first round draft pick. If Detroit could pick up Ball we fans will see the day when our Pistons win the whole thing again. SVG needs to also pick up a smart tough defensive minded center who can control the defensive glass. I don't believe it is only a matter of time before Andre Drummond figures it out on the defensive end. I can't believe he will ever figure it out because he never learned how to play the right way as a kid. Andre didn't miss all of those 3 point shots but he showed me once again that he will never be the Franchise Player. He is struggling big time with basic things that high school players know in the 11th grade. Meanwhile, Ellenson should be getting playing time now so he can become a good rotation player next year. Who cares if the Pistons get on a hot streak and secure the 8th spot. They will get beat in the first round with this group of players every year for the next 5 years. And it is extremely doubtful considering the play of the point guards and center that this team will finish any higher than 11th place.
